Lost tracks and unknown signs

Lost tracks and unknown signs...
TUE 18 MAY: Wandering around in the eastern part of Copenhagen today. Heading home I followed the railway,
and suddenly stumbled upon this sight: 2 strange signs, that looked abandoned, and yet not...

2 weeks rain in a single day

Water...
FRI 14 MAY: The summer seems far away right now. Hey Sun, where did you go..?

APRIL 2010

Bellahøj revisited

Bellahøj...
FRI 23 APR: Visited Bellahøj, together with Mikala, to watch an art exibition. Not far way, but I haven't been here for years...

Strange street lamp

Strange street lamp...
THUR 22 APR: Heading home, a late night, I noticed this strange lamp, hovering above, in the wind...

Music of the spheres

TUE 20 APR: Just stumbled upon this site that combines music and astronomy, in a literal sense:
Here you can listen to the sound of stars slowly revolving. More specific it works like this:

The brightest stars slowly revolve around the North Star.
An note is played when a star cross the center line.
Pitch is based on color / temperature.
Volume is based on apparent brightness.
Stereo panning is based on screen position.

A very simple idea, but one could fear the result just being a lot of random noise. Nope.
It actually sounds rather good, and quite etherial. Listen here: wheelof.com/stars/

Quoting the creator Jim Bumgardner: "Basically, this is a very literal kind of ''music of the spheres'', and is typical of my projects, which often involve circles and music. This idea for making a music box out of stars was a natural progression from some previous projects of mine, like the Whitney Music Box, and Musical Chess, which you might also enjoy..."

I haven't tried the musical chess yet, but that too sounds interesting...

Watch your feet...

Deeper and deeper...
SUN 4 APR: Oops, what happened to the pavement? They are alway digging somewhere in a city. They're also digging right now...

FEBRUARY 2010

White, white, white...

Snowstorm in Copenhagen 2 February 2010
TUE 2 FEB: The annual snowstorm arrived, and for a few hours everything was white, white, white...

Thanks for asking

FRI 8 JAN: People have a tendency to borrow pictures, without bothering to ask for permission.
And I usually doesn't mind too much, provided it's for a personal or non-commercial purpose.
So, it was pleasant surprise to read this request:

Hello! We are putting together a website for the Durham Volunteer Fire Department in Durham, CA, USA - at no cost to them.
We found your fire wallpaper and want to make sure we can use it. How would we credit it?
The site is www.durhamvolunteerfire.org and you can see how it is used.

Thank you, DeAnna Holman. Editor in Chief, Publisher. Community Seeds e-Magazine. www.communityseeds.com

Thanks for asking! Permission granted...

Reconstruction

SUN 3 JAN: A new website for a new decade, I thought. What I didn't think of was the sheer amount of material
I would then need to transfer, reformat, resize, rearrange. In short, this will take some time.

So, in the meantime, don't be confused if the layout suddenly (and temporarily) changes;
that's just one of the old pages, not yet upgraded. But it will, in time.

After all, I only need to move 3000 pictures, one by one...

DECEMBER 2009

Utterslev Mose revisited

Utterslev Mose Winter 17 December 2009
THUR 17 DEC: Snow waited long to arrive in late 2009, but finally appeared, as a December storm.
I and Schmidt wandered out in the nearby Utterslev Mose to explore the white landscapes and frozen lakes...

Strange lights in the falling snow

Snow and Light
WED 16 DEC: The first snow fell in 2009, and I and Mikala wandered out into the night to see the flakes fall.
Before we left, I noticed a mysterious light in the sky, apparently emanating from somewhere in the neighborhood.
Heading home from the nearby park we finally discovered what it was: a spotlight aimed directly at the snow...

SEPTEMBER 2009

Sweet poison..?

SUNDAY 27: Today I upgraded some graphic metallic galleries. I also added links to Wikipedia, in case you wanted to know more.
I was quite surprised myself, when I read about the history of Radium. Radium is extremely radioactive and highly toxic.
It was discovered in 1898, and in the beginning not much was known about this strange new element of nature.
However, it was regarded as a modern, mysterious and powerful substance - and therefore used as an additive in toothpaste,
hair creams, even in food and candy. Want some radioactive chocolate? Why not, you'll get a radiant health (and glow in the dark)...

Radium chocolate
Indeed, times have changed, but are we any wiser now? Here are lot's of examples: www.dissident-media.org/infonucleaire/radieux.html...

A dream of displacement

THURSDAY 22: Yesterday Schmidt reminded me that "X-Files" wasn't the only strange stories ever made for the screen. Earlier we also had "Twilight Zone".
Not necessarily sci fi or fantasy stuff, but rather weird and unexplained things that just couldn't happen, and yet...
That reminded me of a strange dream, a few years ago: Here and There...

Cats and colours

THURSDAY 10: If cats don't look colourful enough to you, then dispair not. Now you have the option to colour your cat. Here are some samples: halohalo.ph/?p=5676

AUGUST 2009

A house that's not at home

SATURDAY 22: Today I was passing the local multihall, Nørrebrohallen, when I noticed a strange scene:
Red chairs parked in open space, positioned so audience were looking at a screen tuned to a dead channel.
Nearby people dressed in black were erecting a house, without roof, walls, windows or door. Of course,
I could suspect some rational explanation. But, as usual, I'd really prefer the surrealistic angle instead...

A rude and unreasonable chicken

MONDAY 17: Translations that fail, usually makes you laugh instead. The results can be absurd, even surreel.
Like in this case of rude and unreasonable chickens. I simply can't guess what they intended to say.
Much simpler to suspect a mixup of "b" and "p" in this one "Fragrant and hot crap".
You can find many more weird translations here: www.engrish.com. (Thanks to Tinne for mentioning it...)

Just one second

FRIDAY 7: Each month a full moon appears, and this time I tried to get as close as possible:

How far away is the moon? If you were a photon: just 1 second...

MARCH 2009

Dancing photons

SATURDAY 28: One of my friends invited me along to a nearby party. And thus I spent an evening with electronic music and esoteric decorations.
I had of course my camera ready, and caught a lot of whirling views, dancing light, fire in motion, photons jumping around.
Here's one of the sights, but you can see more here, as Light Show 8...
Light Show 8
Here are two wideo clips if you want to see and hear: 1 and 2

How to Tell If Your Cat Is from Outer Space?

TUESDAY 17: I found this strange question on this strange site: www.catsandcoffee.org. If you suspect that your cat may be from another planet, you might be right. But of course it's not really that simple: read how cats from outer space differ from cats who've been abducted by aliens. All the (coffee)beans are spilled here: www.catsandcoffee.org/misc/catsfromouterspace.html

A quick red fox biting a lazy blue explorer

Crunch...

MONDAY 9: Firefox is rising, and Explorer sinking. Or perhaps you haven't noticed yet..?
Mozilla now has 22 % of the global browser market, compared with IE's 67 %.
I found this ironic graphic on WOTs forum...
